With Thanksgiving around the corner, we wanted to create some fun, themed activities! Many individuals really enjoy targeting their speech and language skills in ways that relate to upcoming events, and it's a nice change of pace for professionals and caregivers.

When we create therapy resources we try to keep a few things in mind:

  • Create resources that can be used to target a variety of goals (receptive language, expressive language, pragmatic language, articulation/phonology, etc)
  • Create resources that don't require a lot of prep to use or that end up creating a lot of waste
  • Create resources that individuals across a wide amount of abilities can access
  • Create resources that individuals who use AAC can use
  • Create resources that don't require a lot of additional supplies/materials
  • Create resources that can easily be modified based on the individual(s) using them

With that...our first activity is a Thanksgiving-themed Mad Libs story!

This story also comes with a Word Bank for individuals who may need some support coming up with the specific words for the story.

Also included - a supplemental activity where individuals can design their own pie - based on the story or their own imagination!

The second Thanksgiving-themed speech and language activity is to Create your own pie!
